Work management and return to work

Depending on the level of disability caused by chronic fatigue, a person can have problems with maintaining work or studies or has been forced to leave work or studies because of the fatigue. This, apart from the financial difficulties that may cause, often creates feelings of anger, frustration and shame. Problems with maintaining work and study frequently occur in people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or chronic fatigue caused by other conditions such as cancer, fibromyalgia, Parkinson's disease, burnout syndrome and others.

Most patients do not know how they could return to their work (in the existing, previous or a new job) without worsening of their physical condition. This lack of knowledge frequently creates fear of returning to work.

During the final stage of Graded Exercise Therapy targets around returning to work or study are set and graded steps of using physical exercise and activity are followed.
